riotgrrrl_meg I picked Brown Study purely for the Jens Lekman vibes. However, this entire album just gets more comfortable with every listen. This might be a niche take, but to me it's as if singer/songwriter Jens Lekman turned his hand to dream pop and trip hop while taking the rhythmic vibes of Cigarettes After Sex and dialing them up to "waking up in the morning after sex" tempo. It's a sonic trip is all I can say. Favorite track: Brown Study.

redruffedlemur since hearing my first Vansire song (and seeing their videos!) I've loved it, I always look forward to hearing their music whatever mood I'm in. Favorite track: Nice to See You (feat. FLOOR CRY).

darsd Probably one of my favorite projects of all time. This album scratches an itch that I feel like most dream pop and chillwave doesn’t for me. Favorite track: Lonely Zone (feat. Mellow Fellow, Ruru & Paul Cherry).

When it's too late For us too not pretend And for awhile We could just be friends When it's too late For us to not pretend
2.
Synth Man 02:43
Oh synth man They’re asking again What’s the mindstate Who is the friend While the months pass Ambitions are grand From the inside Think about sand That you don’t see In your bedroom What of the hard times You never exhume Look to the highways Stare at the dry fields Maybe the sun’s out Maybe your mind’s real Have you been dreaming Or eyeing car wheels A cryptic message On how your heart feels Cause sometimes the art heals Oh synth man
3.
Halcyon Age 03:13
It's one hazy panoply Recount this halcyon age I turn to Anthony When he turned to Karleinz and Cage But no one's really there Does that mean it's done in vain If no one really cares I'm back to acting strange Like Daniel Johnston in Texas At some point in the eighties Passing out his cassettes with The j-card that he drew oh did he ever expect it I guess it's just what happens when the music's a respite The world is so appalling and you come to detest it And you could say that I was nervous then Fairly awkward now Leave the speakers loud When you feel self doubt If there's any chance That we'd still hang out We could detail dreams While we stare at passing clouds Those modal masterworks Atonal oeuvres it seems When I ask afterwards All message lost inbetween The shifting aperture Depicting sun-soaked scenes I guess they resonate That's Universal Consciousness Take two of Ascension The Shape of Jazz to Come and Laurie Spiegel's inventions O'Rourke or Zorn and Oliveros all deserve mention You're dancing in a room and no one's paying attention Addressing my reception with a focused eye To the passing clouds I'll be there for you When you're feeling down Any given day You can find me 'round In a despondent way In a study best called brown
4.
Brown Study 03:13
I was half awake Flying down the interstate Mesmerized by power lines and blighted dour estates And all the things I just felt Somewhere in the rust belt Wondering how many times can a heart melt Still hoping your season will start well Pardon my semantics It's somewhat pedantic But your outline against the Atlantic Well it's idyllic and highly romantic In a dream Oh I took several transfers to the G Line Now Bushwick Inlet's just to our right I'd never seen Manhattan at night I said it's lovely, you said that's right Sidewalks, brownstones, and street posts They line my dreams in complete rows On cold days she wears a pea coat While staring out from the east coast A furtive glance as the fields roll A stray outsider that she knows Could I be someone you need most When I'm so far from the east coast
5.
[Mellow Fellow] I never wanna be alone But now that you're gone I'm thinking that this love is all but done [Ruru] Nothing's ever been so clear But when you're near I'm feeling like anytime I change my mind here [Josh] And I should say I'm fine here Just to leave your mind at ease And I mostly stay inside here And then I watch as all these Dreams fall far from the ocean floor While years roll by in the driftless north How inexorably all things fade And still half hoping that somehow Everything can turn out ok [Mellow Fellow] I never wanna be alone But now that you're gone I'm thinking that this love is all but done [Ruru] Nothing's ever been so clear But when you're near I'm feeling like anytime I change my mind here [Paul Cherry] I see you online Now this is real life Images of when (when) you (you) were (were) mine (mine) Now you're looking me up You're looking me down I'm just a clown And you know my Heart is a ghost town (woo!) I fall into myself and drown Never wanna be here Never wanna be there Welcome to my lonely zone Guess I'll see you on my phone [Mellow Fellow] I never wanna be alone But now that you're gone I'm thinking that this love is all but done [Ruru] Nothing's ever been so clear But when you're near I'm feeling like anytime I change my mind here
6.
[Deem] Above the highway Cotton clouds I'm beginning to feel I'm on my way to god Rainy sky prettier than I thought Rain inside Skidded into my yard Ran inside pity I wasn't far And nobody was harmed I wish I were Above the sky I think There's a spot for goods A [?] boy who do good thing for bad call I'm on my way to next time Above the sky I think There's a spot for goods A [?] boy who do good thing for bad call I'm on my way to next time Come through
7.
I'm hoping that you ask Does it have to end I'll gladly acquiese and do it again You're staring into space There's something to see But all I see is space and it's staring at me To cry on return from sleep And in the daytime Assured it's a different thing So when it snows And you're inside A week's gone by With different skies In transit I pretend It's a lucid dream Gennadius at night It's no difference to me Content about the world When I'm half-asleep And listening to the sounds of the BQE I'm hoping that you ask Does it have to end I'll gladly acquiese and do it again You're staring into space There's something to see A different time and place Where the world's at ease

Moon Hits 02:47
Oh we were standing there When the moon broke through And I wonder still What it meant to you Do the months roll by When you're far from home Are you doing fine Have you grown wistful on your By now, all the crowd's inside Through the glass door, pairs of shifting lights I can understand Why you'd live this life Content to wait awhile This view is rather nice Oh we were standing there When the moon broke through And I wonder still What it meant to you Do the months roll by When you're far from home Are you doing fine Have you grown wistful on your Air's still on the balcony's edge Then the months' gone With everything we said I contextualize on a frame and screen Non-diegetic tunes with striking color schemes Oh we were standing there When the moon broke through And I wonder still What it meant to you Every county road Every coastal view Moments meant to fade to An image you'll flip through
9.
[Floor Cry] Nice to see you How you doing Did you know you’re Really something You make me feel things I don’t believe in It’s all up in my heart And all up in my spine Those chills [Josh] I suppose some day these roads will reach the sea It’s safe to say they’re tailor-made for replaying scenes But I’m to pensive To decide what’s real All cause you left me with a heart chockful of chills [Floor Cry] In the morning sun You and I are one Fingers through my hair Feel them everywhere Don't know what to think Am I still dreaming You're so perfect baby were you made for me [Both] Nice to see you How you doing Did you know you’re Really something You make me feel things I don’t believe in It’s all up in my heart And all up in my spine Those chills Hope it works out In the long run I think about you and Then the months gone I raise the issue in Tangential love songs It's all up my heart and All up in my spine those chills Those chills, ah those chills [Floor Cry] Hold me baby Oh you saved me

KW 03:16
We’re floating over the district I’m buoyed by winsome esprit The stone arch bridge and the skyline A tilt shift blur to the scene Some headlights highlight the driveway But she doesn’t turn to see The details in our periphery While shadows swell and recede Droll city blocks and curbs They all leave my head unnerved Things felt that probably were Thoughts I would say to her But all lightrails motor fast One glance and a moment’s passed View life through tinted glass Left with one printed pass And now it’s me and the satellites Halfway home at night Fly from my line of sight I’m sad but it’s alright [Kyle] [Trumpet solo]

[Chester Watson] I turned my Starcaster to a star catcher Might visit nostalgia and chip my sanity Still one with the heat of cigar ember At peace with knowing I could leave forever tomorrow I’m on the brink of nirvana I’m so omniscient See all and I’m an issue I’m overseas and still haven’t seen god That brother MIA as fuck My mama pray for me often bet she probably Set my luck I been surrounded by crosses ever since I could look Up on the balcony smell the sea and the breeze And if you ever did doubt on me I would truly hate to be you Honestly it’s me and my family on the easel So that’s the reason I see some people to see through You’re fucking phonies I keep my distance and peace with it Sounds mad wavy, get eargasms or seasickness Leave em’ with an imprint deeper than OGs did it No overdose but still hella OD Still hella OD [Josh] The shore seems small when you're up this high And air stays cold with the changing tide The feeling's strange knowing you've arrived The path behind, star catcher’s twine, That’s life [Chester Watson] Back to the madness fasten your seats I had a dream I had to battle the reaper halfway deceased On the beach in the winter with ominus clouds east Dishonor puts me at ease, Obama print on my ‘Preme And I Love Ugly on me like potassium in Belize Mad organic beats said my competition was me So now I don’t feel inclined or responsible to appease Niggas wishes got me wishing I thought like this from the beginning Oi Love is not a game it’s not a toy I stay in my lane so I enjoy life People switching up got me annoyed Fuck it [Josh] Souls grow public in domain When dreams take place in a conscious state If god was real, and all's pre-ordained Then who's to say what's real or fate So reflecting on a later date The shore line gone with the climate's change If merit lied in the work you made Then take some peace knowing you had things worth saying
12.
[Fog Lake] I got your message and I'm coming back, coming back It's always been my mistake, yeah always It's close to 7 and I'm running back, running back It always felt like a chase to me anyways You make me feel like the moment's passed, moment's passed Maybe it is but I'm not sensing it You think I fake it but it's not like that, not like that It always felt like a movie to me either way
13.
[Josh] If you're bummed out Feel free to talk with me How does lunch sound I'll ask you about your week On the come down Always rehashing scenes When the sun's down And half of the world's asleep I'm half-asleep [Sophie Meiers] And I wonder What you would have done If I kissed you I had my chance I held your hand And leaned up close to you Now it just seems like I messed up I don't know what to do All I know is I'm nervous that you don't like me too [Ivy Sole] I thought that home is where you are until that home is where I left I found a home inside myself since no home for me was left I slept with poems in my hands for seven days Slept alone and wept by twilight so I thrown aside a phone in heaven's name Cause home can change and it does Corny names for new love Joining strange depictions tinted with that rose from my bud Cause blood is thick but smoke be thick as hell Eyes all on my mind my shell in shell shock With lonely mail all cluttered on my desktop Used to got the best box and cutter slice and dice with sideway stump Stutter with that t-t-tongue I scream gently how'd you undo us For goodness sake you make me undone These poems underneath my nails Sweat makes the ink run Smolder-heavy memory brain showed her a pink love My poem's in the mail It was tears that made the ink run Heavy multi-memory brain shed in a pink tongue [Josh] If you're bummed out Feel free to talk with me How does lunch sound I'll ask you about your week On the come down Always rehashing scenes When the sun's down And half of the world's asleep I'm half-asleep

[Josh] By now All the crowd’s arrived In the front row Pairs of surly eyes I can’t understand Trying to surmise Are they mad at me What does this imply Now I’m panicking Dipping from the scene Driving Lyndale Ave Lost in glossy sheen Of the streetlights With the slow-mo bleed It’s irrational But it seems so real to me [Jeremiah Jae] Night still young still buzzing from the last one Shots fill the glass keep it coming down the hatch ‘Till the bottom of the bottle The light’s fading black Let’s forget about tomorrow get lost in the act And the stage play out bounce of the crowd and react But with positive come negative charge, laws attract I feel they energy feel like they talking to me without speaking Hear ‘em breathing eyes reading suddenly my mind speeding What is this Something in the air got me feeling like Dipping out in the ride, checking the side lights We just tryna bring you that vibe so why you wanna jive We could keep the moment alive, but catch me outside The one another one, tryna get your mind right But the cold still flooded now I’m tryna break the ice With the device I’m on a mission to flip it and get your soul lifted On the way up until we drifting

When August comes I don’t count the days Transitory views From the subway train How strange When life unfolds this way In the driftless zone Sky’s are prone to stay off-gray Clouds are omens too Fading at the rate Most pleasant memories do

Angel Youth 04:02
Oh a warm hello Would be apropos We haven't spoke in several weeks But solitude tends to be the move So you probably won't hear from me And there was one relief in the changing trees The contrails that cut the sky But pre-arranged circumstances change And I'd be lying if I said I'm fine Catch her in the switchbacks in the line Switching back to central standard time Each day slightly more resigned Trying to make some sense of life So if we take off You could quit your day job We'd call ourselves the Angel Youth You'll find us traveling and making tunes But then I think of All the people we've loved How they'll be growing older soon How it's true for me and you So I convalesced in the middle west And fell for Ohio's roads I'm standing still by the window sill Where I once watched the world explode So when it's looking dark in your narrative arc I'm here and you can talk with me A hackneyed fool under facist rule Wasting days singing bout his dreams All of which has lead me to believe Earth's a set and life's the movie screen And every dream that you have inbetween They'll fade with every frame you see Oh is it self-hate I wish I was in LA Far from all the roads we knew Unworried where we're going to So if we take off You could quit your day job We'd call ourselves the Angel Youth We're coming to a town near you Lonely and outraged Guess for now that I'll wait For generation Angel Youth To point me towards a higher truth It's on the off-chance We never come to cross hands Cause it's too late to not pretend And I'd for all of this to end Just glad that I could be your friend
